Christingle Services 4pm & 630pm
December 4 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
A lovely service, especially for children, Christingle heralds the start of Christmas with carols and prayers. This year we will be holding 2 services at 4pm and 630pm. The actual Christingle is an orange, decorated with red tape, sweets and a candle which will be lit during the service. The orange represents the world, the red tape symbolises the love and blood of Christ, and the sweets (or dried fruit) represent all of God’s creations. There are 4 skewers of sweets, each holding 3 sweets, which represent the four seasons (or the four corners of the world). The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.
With children in mind, churches across the land – including ours – will be collecting for the Children’s Society, helping support the wonderful work that they do. There’ll be a collection at the end of the service.
