To love and to cherish
Our two beautiful and historic churches offer perfect settings for weddings, as well as
celebratory services of prayer and / or dedications after a Civil Marriage or Civil Partnership.
We will do all we can to make sure your special day is as joyous and memorable an occasion as possible.
That includes supporting you in the preparations, both logistically as well as emotionally and spiritually.
Our Marriage service invites you to make your solemn promises to each other not only in front of your family and friends, but in the sight of God and with God’s blessing.
You can get married at Christ Church or St Mary’s if at least one of the following applies to one or both of you:
- live in the parish
- have been regular worshippers at church for at least six months and are on the church’s Electoral Roll.
- have some other connection to the parish: e.g. you were baptised here, or your parents or grandparents used to worship or were married here.
Calling your banns
If you are getting married at Christ Church or St Mary’s, or you live in this parish and are getting married in a different church, your banns will be read out. We do this at the 10am Sunday Service in Christ Church or the 11am service at St. Mary’s on three consecutive Sundays during the three months before your wedding day.
Services of Thanksgiving
