Job Vacancies

Parish Manager: 16 hours per week, ideally four mornings but negotiable, Parish Office at Christ Church

We are now looking for a new Parish Manager to start early November or as soon as possible thereafter.  The Parish Manager's job involves being the first port of call for all parish-based enquiries, co-ordinating and compiling communications and posters, liaising with funeral directors, managing diaries, liaising with contractors and other parties, ensuring that Christ Church is open and tidy during the hours they work and secure when they leave, conducting DBS checks, and a number of one-off tasks according to the season.

We are looking for a confident person who is administratively capable, focussed and IT literate, with good people skills and an ability to self-motivate.  No previous church experience is necessary, but an empathy for the work and witness of a parish church is crucial, alongside a willingness to learn new skills.

Generous paid holiday and possibility of flexible working.

For a job pack please contact Fr James Gilder on jbgilder@hotmail.com
Applications will close at midday on Mon  5th October.  Appointment will be subject to an Enhanced DBS with Barred List.

Paid Treasurer: 8 hours per week, flexible, largely working from home

With the increase in activity in the Parish and the success of our Heritage Lottery Fund application as well as much else, there is a need now to transition to a paid treasury role.

We are therefore looking for someone to perform a host of treasury related tasks including bookkeeping, liaising with staff, volunteers and other stakeholders, account maintenance, budget setting, making payments, scrutinising expense claims, maintaining and investing restricted funds, a small amount of payroll, and the preparation of documents for the annual audit.

This post would suit someone seeking a flexible working environment and a way to make a meaningful contribution to community life.  Whilst a background in finance is desirable, confidence with numbers, attention to detail, excellent self-motivation, flexibility, accountability and a willingness to learn new and existing digital systems are more prerequisites than any particular previous career. Full training will be provided.

The successful candidate will report to a small team of volunteers and will be managed by the Rector of Wanstead, with a regular management meeting based on the monthly financial report. Most of this role is flexible enough to be carried out at a time of the post holder’s choosing, although a small amount of work in the church office or attendance at an evening meeting, may occasionally be required.
